ARE YOU AN AGGRESSIVE INVESTOR?

Over the past few months, we’ve explored the proprietary stock analysis indicators and Market Timing Systems provided by VectorVest. If you’re not familiar with these indicators, here are some quick refreshers:

Now, the question now becomes, how can you put these tools into action, based on your investment style and goals? One of the keys to becoming a successful investor is knowing what your investment style is and buying stocks that are consistent with that style. Over the next several weeks, we will discuss the four basic investment styles as identified by the VectorVest Strategic Investment Matrix:

According to the Investment Matrix, each investment style can be categorized easily in VectorVest by using two of our key proprietary fundamental indicators. The first Relative Value, RV, which measures the long-term price appreciation potential of a company. The second Relative Safety, RS, which is an indicator of risk and measures the consistency and predictability of a company’s financial performance. Both of these indicators are measured on a 0.00 – 2.00 scale with values above 1.00 being favorable and values below 1.00 being unfavorable.

Up first, the Aggressive category. Aggressive Investors and Traders take a high risk, high reward approach to investing. They are focused on capital appreciation. Aggressive Investors are looking for big gains and are willing to take on substantial risk to achieve those gains. The stocks that fall in line with the Aggressive investment style are characterized in VectorVest by having a Relative Value, RV, above 1.00 and a Relative Safety, RS, below 1.00. Also, Aggressive investing is often associated with momentum investing, so I would add that having a Relative Timing, RT, rating above 1.00, is important.

Stocks that fit the Aggressive style of investing are very easy to find in VectorVest.  Just click on the UniSearch tab of VV7 and select the Searches – Aggressive group from the list on the left-hand side of the screen. You’ll find 10 Searches in this list that will help you find the best stocks to fit the Aggressive investment style.
